Regardless of outside attempts to escalate conflict in the region and the heightened risks, US forces have carried on delivering aid to Gaza, airdropping life-saving humanitarian assistance to civilians affected by the conflict.
In a joint operation on April 23, four US Air Force C-130 aircraft dropped 30,016 Meals Ready to Eat (MREs) into northern Gaza, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
Additionally, more than 6,000 pounds of Jordanian food supplies were also delivered.
To date the United States has dropped nearly 1,041 tons of humanitarian assistance into northern Gaza.
Meanwhile, it has continued to press the Israeli government to allow more aid to flow though all available land crossings, with US officials announcing on April 23 that there has been significant improvement in the flow of aid in recent weeks.
The United States is pursuing "every channel possible to get assistance into Gaza," a senior US official said March 7.
"We will do it by air, by sea, by land -- however we can get the maximum amount in possible."
Aid continues
While the Iranian regime and its proxies have been causing conflict and increasing risks in the area, the United States and partner nations remain committed to delivering aid to alleviate human suffering.
Iran on April 13 launched more than 300 drones and missiles from its soil towards Israel in response to an April 1 air strike on an Iranian consulate building in Damascus, Syria, that killed several Iranian military officials.
This marked the most significant escalation of the regional conflict since Hamas launched its October 7 attack on Israel, and was the first time Iran has launched a direct attack on Israel from its own territory.
Since World War II, US assistance has reached people in more than 150 countries and territories, even volatile regions, including Ukraine, Central and East Africa, and South and Central Asia.
The United States has distributed almost $4 trillion in foreign aid to communities in need throughout the world, according to the Council on Foreign Relations.
