Eagle Resolve, a major multinational exercise held every two years in the Gulf region, is set to return in 2025.
Eagle Resolve is a US Central Command (CENTCOM) Combined Joint All-Domain exercise that is hosted on a rotational basis by Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations in the region and changes focus every few years to a specific area of defense.
Qatar is slated for 2025-2026, with the exercise focusing on cybersecurity.
The exercise, which began in 1999, aims to enhance security and coordination across the Arabian Peninsula and develop partner nations' ability to respond to current and emerging threats in the region.
Participants in the past have included Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, among others.
Eagle Resolve has focused on diverse defense domains including air, land, sea, space and cyberspace, enhancing coalition interoperability and crisis response capabilities.
It underscores the commitment of the United States and its GCC partners to regional stability and military collaboration.
Cybersecurity, integrated air defense
Eagle Resolve 2025 marks a significant milestone by integrating advanced cybersecurity training into the Eagle Resolve agenda for the first time, and will be the first concurrent multinational cybersecurity training session between the United States and GCC countries.
This includes plans for a comprehensive cyber range exercise, in which participants will address simulated cyber threats in real time.
The exercise will also focus on Integrated Air and Missile Defense, reflecting regional priorities to protect critical infrastructure and populations from emerging threats.
The event will feature concurrent operations, such as an air component field training exercise, a virtual command post exercise and cyber resilience activities. to improve the readiness of coalition forces in managing complex.
The upcoming exercise builds on the success of previous iterations, including Eagle Resolve 23, which Saudi Arabia hosted.
Past Eagle Resolve exercises included scenarios such as air defense concepts, counter-unmanned aircraft systems, counterterrorism operations, border security operations and inter-ministerial co-ordination.
These scenarios are meant to implement crisis management initiatives, increase counterterrorism and irregular warfare capabilities and enhance military co-operation between armed forces against a regional crisis.
